Giving Back to the Community
The Samaya has the pleasure to have ‘Bali Kids’ orphanage visiting this week. The visit is part of their leisure during school holiday. And for The Samaya, it is part of our ‘Giving Back to the Community’ program. As the wise man said; if you bring a little joy and hope to one child, you have made the world a better place.
The children are sweet, polite and the most important thing you can see HOPE on their face. Dena, 13 year-old boy wishes to be a computer expert. He is the only one who speaks English fluently. Ririn, 5 year-old girl wants to be a doctor when she grows up. Komang Samiasih, pretty 17 year-old girl wants to be stewardess.
Bali Kids was founded in April 2005 by Brenton Whittaker, a travel agent. He has traveled to many overseas locations and wishes to help the under-privilege children there. He set up Carry for Kids in 1997 and Bali is one of his projects. The children in Bali Kids are provided shelter, quality food, clothing, education, health care and most importantly love.
Today Bali Kids is home to 17 children of 5 up to 17 years old. Some of the children are with physical disability. Eko (15) is only about 1 meter tall. One boy use fake eye on his right eye. Dena walks lamely. To quote from Mother Teresa, you can do no great things – only small things with great love. You can help through travel.
